pre-production research part 1: Research for a community media project
Knife crime:
over the years knife crime has been a growing issue in today's day and age and over the year of 2017-2018 the offences of knife crime has almost doubled in size and by the the month of June 2019 studies has shown that it has grown by 7%. London has the biggest issues concerning knife crime,
it is estimated that per year there is 108 stabbings that mean that there could potentially be one stabbing per 3-4 days, this heaving relates to gang related activites, the highest rate of knife crime has been in the area's of southwalk and Lambeth. In the yeart 2018 35% of all knife crime in the uk was recorded to be in the bourough of london. it is more of an issue growing within children teens and young adults, as there are more teens joining gangs and being affiliated with goups that go out with a the soul reason to catch and kill opposing gang members, the reason of this behavior could be because of the way some are treated at home or weather being in a gang gives the teen a feel of self worth but most of the time teens and young adults join gangs to feel powerful. i believe the violent music genre known as drill music stongly contrabuted to the rise in knife crime as there are many songs talking about stabbings. there are many movies and books that promote this kind of violence this is exposed to kids and cxould be one of the reasons why there isa a rise ing knife crimes amoung teens. this research

I will be analysing three different films and explaining how important sound is to music and how it is used in films to create various moods and atmosphere to people that is watching
the first film is will be analysing it and the projector scene this is where the kids of the loser club are trying to find out more about the shapeshifting clown and come across a projector that has images of him dating back 100 years ago
the music used to create the ambience is the drums and silence everything else is silent except the clicking sound of the projector going through the images this give a sense of suspense as with every click to the next slide the music grows louder and louder to portray a build up where something is due to pop out at the end it slowly begins to introduce the sounds of horns and the screams of the children while the slides are still going on the sound effects of the children bumping in to chairs and tables moving back portray a emotion of fear there are non-diegetic sounds throughout the scene as well as some diegetic sounds that being the music in the background and the diegetic being the bumping and movement of tables and chairs and the clicking of the slides on the projector.these non-diegetic sounds occurred at around (1.20) where the projected was clicking through the slides then another time at (2.09) where the boy kicked the projector. I think the use of the music and all the sounds coming together is to amplify the feel of tension and to feel uncomfortable while that particular part of the film is playing
DEADPOOL
The next film that is will be analysing is dead pool 2 where colossus is fighting the juggernaut in this scene there are many sound effects of metal clanking and grunting this is the diegetic sounds but there are actually no non diegetic sounds besides the music in the background that is playing you could say that there are voice over sounds like the metal as that is dubbed over the speech while they are fighting.
another use of sound in this fight scene is to create mood and the mood of this scene is surprise and awe of these two huge characters fighting the also they use the sounds of metal and other sounds to exaggerate the power of the punches and kicks that these characters are throwing and taking, the diegetic sounds starts at around (0.29) everything is made to seem more then what it is to give the audience a better show I believe that this is a prominent and powerful scene in the movie because everything was in sync with each other to create this for example the music fit perfectly with the action the diegetic sound of the everything moving in the background added to it and then the speech dubbed over the music to make the scene constantly grow in tension to make the audience think who is going to win and what's going to happen.
GODZILLA
the last film that I will be analysing is Godzilla when he first comes to fight Ghidorah in the 2017 adaptation of the old film Godzilla there is a range of sounds going on in this. scene from the heavy blowing of the wind that is there to build up tension in the fight between Godzilla and ghidorah there is thunder going on in the background which is a diegetic sound as the music starts to go quiet at around (0.19) seconds the producer has made the main character Godzilla Roar powerful and loud which in my opinion portrays an image to the audience of how strong and dangerous Godzilla can be. this immediately puts the scene to an intense moment as to when they are going to fight this atmosphere sets up to an emotional connection to Godzilla as they want him to win as his there last hope for humanity. Their is very few non- diegetic sounds in the clips that was provided about the roar of Godzilla apart from the footsteps from people around these are the only non-diegetic sounds in the film bar chairs and tables moving and things falling down onto the floor. The reason for this is that this is a very heavily edited film.

the purposes of social action
the purpose of social action is about people coming together to improve their lives and solve problems that are important to the community.
Social media is also known to report these problems back to the public in order to attract their attention which would then encourage the public to put a stop those problems the way they do this is by communicating through the internet , magazines or TV adverts which is a very quick easy method to get peoples attention also its the most apparent way to get through to the kids of today's generation as they are always on social media including snapchat and instagram adverts are predominantly shown on there as the world is going digital.
the impact of social actions : the impacts of national campaigns such as breast cancer uk and rethink breast cancer. is that it has saved lives as they spread awareness this is a big impact as breast cancer is becoming more and more common every year a estimated 600,000 people are diagnosed and are living with breast cancer and this will rise to approximately 840,000 people by 2020.the short film High risk is a social action film spreadin awareness about breast cancer going on all the facts and the people that has been affected by it.how it has drastically changed lives and hiw the survivors of it lived and beat it in the long run.
Another example of social action and community could be the BYP100 which is a orginisation to stop the hate and violence against LGBTQ rights womans right and the descimination of the black youth in today's day and age .they have decided to show young victims being abused in order to raise awareness for the charity they have also used a narrative to show the audience who are watching to see what the victim has experienced to make it more personal to the audience. this will also encourage viewers to donate money to help the charities but also to help the victims. It is also used to raise awareness so that victims that have been affected by this predjudice would be afried to come and speak up about the wrong that has been done by them.the speak about racism, police brutality and the economic decline in the black community. A social action film that has similer ethics is moonlight a film about a african american man that faces the struggles of being black in that day and age but also expriances the hate of being gay in where in a community was it was deemed wrong
the final social action groups that i will be talking about is RAINN witch is the rape and incest national helpline this is a help line that acts against rape and incest they have advertisments on youtube and social media outlets such as instagram, facebook and twitter they also have a websuite that gives facts about what they provide in the advert NOT ALONE in youtube they portray a narritive that the victims of incest and rape are not alone and like the BYP they should not be afriaid about coming out and speaking about what has done to them and the trauma that it has put them through, the advert starts with a song and a voiceover of a woman that works at RAINN with a phone call this give a idea that there is already victims that are already calling to talk to and get help futher pushing that narrative that they are not alone.the video is hard-hitting mentally and emotionally for the people that have been affected by one of the tradgedies but has not spoken up about it.
the impact that social action movies has had on the public is extrordinary it has allowed move people to come out and talk and speak up about the people that has wronged them and the predjudice that they has faced in their life.
